After launch: Search Console
The client's Search Console export becomes a monthly note a business owner can read, three fixes you can do, and the retainer offer.
The month after launch
The site is live and the client has gone quiet. This is where most freelance relationships end, and it is the cheapest hour of work Dany does all month. Search Console is free, it belongs to the client, and it is the only place that says what people typed before they saw the site. She asks the client to add her as a user, or they export the Performance report and email it to her.
Give it a few weeks. A new site's first month of data is thin and mostly the client searching for themselves.
Three fixes that are always there
Pages that get impressions and no clicks, which is a title and description problem. Queries the client would want to rank for that point at the wrong page, which is a copy and internal link problem. And pages that get nothing at all, which is either a page nobody needs or a page nothing links to. All three are inside Dany's existing skill set, which is why they belong in the retainer.
The offer at the bottom of the note
The note is the sales pitch, so it does not need one. Dany ends the third monthly note with two lines: a fixed monthly fee for the note, the fixes and one small content change, and a sentence saying she will keep sending the note either way for another month. Clients who have read three of them say yes to the fourth.
Try this
[upload the Search Console performance export, last three months, by page and by query] This is Sunrise Bakery, a bakery and catering business. Give me three lists. One: pages with more than 200 impressions and a click through rate under 2 percent. Two: queries where the wrong page is ranking. Three: pages with almost no impressions at all. For each, one line on what you think is causing it.
For the five worst pages in list one, write a new page title under 60 characters and a meta description under 155 that says what the page actually offers, in the tone in this Project. Then tell me which page each new title belongs to in the Wix SEO settings.
Write the monthly note to Maria at Sunrise Bakery. Four short sections: what changed this month, what it means for the bakery, what I did, and the one thing I need from her. Plain sentences, no jargon, no numbers she cannot act on, under 200 words. No promises about future rankings.
